GH girls lacrosse falls in regional tourney

Grand Haven’s varsity girls lacrosse team ran into a buzz-saw in the form of No. 3-ranked East Grand Rapids in the opening round of the Division 2 state tournament.

The result was a season-ending 24-4 loss for the Buccaneers, who see their season come to an end with a 10-7 record.

Mackenzie Yoas fired in a pair of goals for the Bucs. Sandi Fredricks scored once, assisted by Emma Saber, while Mackenzie Klingenberg also had a goal for Grand Haven.

“East Grand Rapids is a strong program and our girls went in wanting to make some goals and make them work for each one of their goals,” Grand Haven coach Kim Vincent said. “I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and their ability to keep their focus in a game when it was clear from the first minute who would be the winner on the scoreboard.”
